Get the Message – OSA
ECR Ireland Annual Conference Taking Place Thursday 16th February 2006
Dublin: January 2006, The ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) Ireland’s Annual Conference 2006 is taking place on Thursday 16th February in the O’Reilly Hall, Belfield, Dublin. Entitled ‘Get the Message – OSA’ (on shelf availability), the conference aims to highlight the importance of OSA while giving clear actions on how to tackle the problem. It will include leading executives from the supply and retail industry, both here and abroad.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Michael Martin will officially open the conference. Key note speakers are Maurice Pratt of C&C and Gerard O’Neill of Amarach. Companies participating include TESCO, BWG Group, Musgrave Group, Nestle, Kellogg, Irish Distillers, Diagio, Cadbury, Statoil, IAWS, Kerry Group, Unilever and Coca Cola.
Topical issues to be discussed at the conference will include on-shelf availability and presentation, consumer trends and meeting consumer needs. Following the success of ECR Ireland projects during 2005, ECR Ireland projects for 2006 will be announced at the Conference. The projects on ‘On Shelf Availability’, ‘Shrinkage’ and ‘Category Management’ will be run in association with The Institute of Grocery Distribution, UK (IGD UK) and Conference attendees will have an opportunity to sign up for these projects on the day.
Commenting on the conference, Tony Keohane, Tesco Ireland co-chair of ECR Ireland said, ‘This will be ECR Ireland’s seventh Annual Conference. ECR initiatives have continued to gain the support and interest of both grocery retailers and suppliers. This has been through the continued education and prominence of the benefits of joint co-operation between both partners, thus helping to deliver the objective of fulfilling consumer wishes, better, faster and at less cost.’
Ciaran Sullivan, Nestle (Ireland) Ltd. co-chair of ECR said, ‘This Conference will give all participants a road map to improved OSA and significantly reduced OOS, (out of stock). The conference mission is to demonstrate that through Retailer and Supplier collaboration the important challenge of OSA can be significantly improved by focusing on key points and processes across the Supply Chain through to the Shelf. The participants will come away with tangibles to help them tackle OSA issues within their respective businesses.’
The food industry and the grocery retail trade account for over 108,000 jobs in the Irish economy and annual turnover of over E15 billion. The food and drink manufacturing sector represents 15% of total manufacturing output in Ireland. Due to a very low import content, this amounts to 25% of net Irish exports.
ECR Ireland, part of ECR Europe is an association for retailers and suppliers in the Irish grocery market. ECR Ireland encourages collaboration between all parties along the Irish grocery supply chain. Established in 1997 the association now has over 70 members operating within the FMCG sector including many of the larger multiple outlets.
